How to handle office relocation
Office relocation, can be a major headache, interrupting your normal business. Of course, if you have sales reps who work mostly from home the income will still keep coming in, but your normal service will be out of joint.
Not all customers are sympathetic – some will think you are moving to a new office because you must be charging them too much – so office relocation starts with thinking about the customer, and how you will tell them what is happening, and give them different numbers to contact your staff.
Consider your customers - especially in the North of England
This is particularly important if you are talking of office removals in York, or the north of England in general, because people there are famous for not expecting their suppliers to have fancy premises.
Having ascertained that the customers will remain happy during the office move, you can plan the move, but before you do so you will need to make sure that your existing office is working is well as it could. Ask your employees what they think. They may not be happy with some aspects of the layout or lighting, or the layout of the office itself.
If you have done that, you can start planning your new office, which may be a different shape. Involve your employees, who will be much more positive about moving if you do. When you are moving offices, it is also a good time to consider whether your facilities management is properly managed, or whether you need the help of facilities recruitment agencies to improve them.
Before relocating, of course, the staff will be needed first to make sure everything is taken and all old documents are disposed of, and then to make sure their stuff is where they want it. But in between, they can have some time off. Take these things into account, and your office relocation will go smoothly.
